In this book, Australian poet, Richard Alexander shows a greater vulnerability than he displayed in his first book, Love is Sufficient. Any consequence is the result of an earlier action. This, his second book once again exposes his vulnerability borne from years of solitude and perhaps, times of not feeling loved. Mr Alexander grew up in Sydney, NSW, but spent some of his childhood as well as times during his his teenage years at Mittagong in the NSW Southern Highlands. Consequences shows Mr Alexander’s ability to create word pictures, adding a whole new dimension for his readers to experience. Interspersed throughout, there are warm and softly sensuous poems about finding love, living in love, and losing at love. This time, he introduces a blue kelpie, Mr Hardy who not only dribbles affection but eases the poet’s pain borne of aloneness. He now lives on the NSW far north coast, where he and his wife have four children and six grandchildren.
