This book critically appraises the field of Arts in Health in the light of the recent public health crisis and co-called culture wars. A new term was coined in Britain in 2017 for this area of work by an All-Party Parliamentary Group: "creative health". Williams sets this hopeful assertion against a darker backdrop of austerity, rising inequality and "Covid-nationalism". Understandings of the field as a (multi)national phenomenon are examined through contested narratives that surround its origin. Using genealogical methods, Williams shows how at supra, national and local policy levels, Arts in Health is presented as an idea that transcends place and time. Arguing against this premise, post-war decades are examined to reveal hidden, mutable arts-health expressions. Examples of practice, and their recognition as such, are context dependent it is concluded - produced by political economies as well as oppositional social movements.

Tracing the cultural interactions between South and Southeast Asia since prehistoric times, the book critically scrutinizes the current cultural diplomacy initiatives of Indiäs Look-Act East Policy. Reminding the need to look at culture as a two-way process and the need to re-define the understanding of culture in its Space Age setting, the author emphasizes on India realising its unique multicultural potentiality to broaden the outlook and parameters of cultural diplomacy to suit the unfolding World Order in the region. The nature and composition of the demography of Southeast Asia and its Indian diaspora calls for a balanced approach in covering the land and maritime sectors, the book further observes. Adopting a peoples-centric approach, the author argues for cultural interactions to go beyond the union government and its agencies and advocates for the role of state governments, non-governmental actors, and other community initiatives as well.

This book traces the history of urban design in tropical South East Asia with a view to offering solutions to contemporary architectural and urban problems. The book examines how pre-colonial forms and patterns from South East Asian traditional cities, overlaid by centuries of change, recall present notions of ecological and organic urbanism. These may look disorganised, yet they reflect and suggest certain common patterns that inform eco-urban design paradigms for the development of future cities.Taking a thematic approach, the book examines how such historical findings, debates and discussions can assist designers and policy makers to interpret and then instil identities in urban design across the Asian region. The book weaves a discourse across planning, urban design, architecture and ornamentation dimensions to reconstruct forgotten forms that align with the climate of place and resynchronise with the natural world, unearthing an ecologically benign urbanism that can inform the future.Written in an accessible style, this book will be an invaluable reference for researchers and students within the fields of cultural geography, urban studies and architecture.

The book explains the rise of BRICS as a decisive group in the present world affairs. It emphasizes the significance of Russian and Chinese foreign policies concerning the BRICS group and how these two countries are using the group to promote their national interests. It also examines the causes of close association of Russia and China within the BRICS group. It illuminates the changing political dynamics of the world. This research contains the scope to unravel the strength of BRICS and Russia and China's foreign policy strategies. The study explains the change in global politics in post covid-19 international affairs. It analyses whether BRICS has the potential to play a decisive role in emerging international politics. The methodology adopted consists of three components: Quantitative method and Qualitative method along with a field trip to Russia to conduct surveys and interviews. The approach has been analytical and descriptive, and both primary and secondary sources havebeen consulted.

This textbook contains the contents coming from hydraulics, hydrodynamics, chemical principles, chemical reaction engineering and bioengineering, which relates closely with fundamental principles in environmental engineering. It mainly covers principles including basic concepts, theories, methods and related equipment in fluid flow and transportation, heat transfer, absorption, chemical and biological reaction kinetics and reactors, as well as their applications in environmental engineering. At same time, the readers learns the basic viewpoints and methods commonly used in engineering technology, such as balance method, reasonable simplification, dimensional analysis method, boundary layer theory, optimization and mathematical model method. It broadens the student's understanding in solving those problems in environmental engineering, and enhances their awareness of industrialization. This book is the specialized foundation and principles for learning the professional courses of environmental engineering, such as "water pollution control," "air pollution control," "solid waste treatment and disposal" and "ecological restoration engineering", while avoiding the repetition of the contents of those professional books.

This textbook is intended as a core text for courses on aeroelasticity or aero-elasto-mechanics for senior undergraduate/graduate programs in aerospace and mechanical engineering. The book focuses on the basic understanding of the concepts required in learning about aeroelasticity, from observation, reasoning, and understanding fundamental physical principles. Fundamental and simple mathematics will be introduced to describe the features of aeroelastic problems, and to devise simple concurrent physical and mathematical modeling. It will be accompanied by the introduction and understandings of the mechanisms that create the interactions that generate the aeroelastic phenomena considered. The students will also be led to the relation between observed phenomena, assumptions that may have to be adopted to arrive at physical and mathematical modelling, interpreting and verifying the results, and the accompanied limitations, uncertainties and inaccuracies. The students will also be introduced to combine engineering problem solving attitude and determination with simple mechanics problem-solving skills that coexist harmoniously with a useful mechanical intuition.
