This is the story of teaching consciousness as a requirement for transformations in social justice. In artful narrative, Nesha Haniff traces her own conscientization as a colonized child in Guyana, exploring the cultural and intellectual forces that shape the creation of the Pedagogy of Action. Drawing from Paulo Freire and Ela Bhatt, participants in POA teach an oral HIV education module to marginalized communities in the USA, South Africa and the Caribbean, as the nexus for dismantling traditional pedagogies of race, gender, service and American hegemony. The many challenges of institutional and cultural obstacles, mainly those that excluded poor and black students from overseas travel, required innovation and persistence. The book features essays written by POA students and South African participants reflecting on their own transformations. These essayists are among the hundreds of participants who, over 15 years, in the practice of radical love, grew the Pedagogy of Action.Winner of the 2023 IARSLCE Publication of the Year Award.
The book presents aspects of cross-currents of theorizing of self, culture and society in the contemporary Taiwan. Social theorizing has been addressed critically, reflectively and creatively by the philosophical, religious, psychological and literary traditions of one of the world¿s great civilizations Theorizing is a dynamic movement of self, culture, society and the world as it is related to our actions, reflections, meditations to understand the world more meaningfully and holistically as well as to transform it. But much of social theorizing in the modern world is primarily Euro-American and despite the socalled globalization of knowledge, this condition of one-sided Euro-American valorization of knowledge and neglect of others continues unabated. There is very little attention to theorizing about the human condition emerging from other parts of the world such as Taiwan and its global implication. This book transforms this condition by mapping the fieldof theorizing in a wider spectrum of philosophy, psychology, religions, social sciences and humanities in contemporary Taiwan.

The growth of the share of digital platforms in various segments of the economy was so rapid that regulators around the world were not ready for such large-scale transformations. This monograph is a unique publication in which, for the first time, a large-scale and sufficiently deep team of experts and scientists from various countries of the world studied in detail the multidimensional phenomenon of the ¿platform economy¿ and the measures taken by states to regulate these processes. The book will be interesting to a wide range of readers interested in the problems of the development of digital platforms and the developing branch of law and science ¿ the law of digital platforms.
