This SpringerBrief discusses the origins, emergence, evolution, and future of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). TAM, simple yet powerful, has been extensively validated, standing as a leading scientific paradigm and a reliable model for explaining, predicting, and improving user acceptance across a spectrum of technological deployments. Over more than three decades since the introduction of TAM, numerous extensions have emerged, incorporating additional variables and collectively referred to as "TAM++". However, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use remain the basic beliefs of the core TAM model. The introductory chapter "Once upon a TAM" focuses on the challenging search for a user acceptance crystal ball, showing that it is indeed possible to consistently predict, explain, and improve user acceptance. "Evolution of TAM" traces the model's growth and adaptability, exploring the proliferation of selected TAM-related behavioural intention models, several integrated theoretical approaches, the quest for other behavioural intention antecedents, and TAM's versatile applications in various contexts. "Revolution of TAM" presents an in-depth systematic review, encompassing a meta-analysis of selected TAM reviews and meta-analyses, and a narrative review of representative primary studies, providing a thorough and extensive understanding of the TAM universe. The epilogue "What will the Future of TAM be Like?" provides insights into its dynamic future. This SpringerBrief concludes with seven actionable principles, serving as a strategic guide for those aiming to customize the TAM++ body of knowledge for application-oriented studies within a particular context. This comprehensive overview of TAM is a valuable source of information for researchers, practitioners, and all interested readers, especially those new to the field.

Oxidative stress and neuroinflammation are considered causative factors in various neurological disorders such as Parkinson¿s and Alzheimer¿s diseases. Antioxidants are chemicals that bind with oxidative species and nullify their effect from causing damage to biological molecules. Endogenous antioxidants are produced by our body, however most of them are obtained from external sources, primarily through diet, called dietary antioxidants. Major sources of antioxidants are brightly colored fruits, vegetables, cereals, legumes, and herbs. Other very effective sources are berries, green tea, and dark chocolate. These compounds have the potential to hinder neurodegeneration, reduce neuronal death and improve memory as well as cognitive functions. Based on the complex nature of antioxidants and oxidative stress, particular antioxidants such as vitamin E, vitamin C or ß-carotene are beneficial in protecting cells, organs and tissues against oxidative damage. The Role of Natural Antioxidants in Brain Disorders describes various neuroprotective effects and their physiological phenomenon mediated by antioxidants to maintain and regulate the general health biomarkers against brain disorders. The important role of antioxidants, diet and lifestyle in managing brain disorders is covered, as is their use in conjunction with conventional therapies against oxidative stress. Both exogenous and endogenous antioxidants are explored in full. By focusing on the role of oxidative stress as a triggering mechanism for various brain disorders and the use of antioxidant foods in conjunction with traditional therapies in combating and preventing them, this is a valuable source for researchers in food science, nutrition, health science and physiology.

This book explores different aspects of and provides concrete suggestions to meet the three main challenges for becoming a ¿Digital Enterprise¿: the transition to the digital age, the emergence of service ecosystems, and the growing role of data as a key underlying resource. As a result of these intertwined and mutually amplifying trends, today¿s enterprises are confronted with several challenges that profoundly impact their design, from the definitions of products and services offered to their clients via the business processes that deliver these products and services to the underlying IT infrastructure. The contributions which are written by leading enterprise architecture researchers and managers of large corporations cover four key aspects which form each one part of the book: Part I presents experiences how different enterprises currently already need to embrace and exploit new challenges like blockchain, customer-centric services, or value co-creation networks. Part II looks at the need for a new design logic, i.e. the need for new ways of thinking regarding the design of enterprises. This book revisits the definition of polemical discourse and deals with its functions in the democratic sphere. It first examines theoretical questions concerning the management of disagreement in democracy and the nature of polemical discourse. Next, it analyses case studies involving such issues as the place of women in the public space, illustrated by the case of the burqa in France and public controversy in the media on the exclusion of women from the public space. The book then explores reason, passion and violence in polemical discourse by means of cases involving confrontations between secular and ultra-orthodox circles, controversies about the Mexican Wall and fierce discussions about stock-options, and bonuses in times of financial crisis.Although polemical exchanges in the public sphere exacerbate dissent instead of resolving conflicts, they are quite frequent in the media and on the Net. How can we explain such a paradox? Most studies in argumentation avoid the question: they mainly focus on the verbal procedures leading to agreement. This focus stems from the centrality conferred upon consensus in our democratic societies, where decisions should be the result of a process of deliberation. What is then the social function of a confrontational management of dissent that does not primarily seek to achieve agreement? Is it just a sign of decadence, failure and powerlessness, or does it play a constructive role? This book answers these questions.
This book provides an overview of software security analysis in a DevOps cycle including requirements formalisation, verification and continuous monitoring. It presents an overview of the latest techniques and tools that help engineers and developers verify the security requirements of large-scale industrial systems and explains novel methods that enable a faster feedback loop for verifying security-related activities, which rely on techniques such as automated testing, model checking, static analysis, runtime monitoring, and formal methods. The book consists of three parts, each covering a different aspect of security engineering in the DevOps context. The first part, "Security Requirements", explains how to specify and analyse security issues in a formal way. The second part, "Prevention at Development Time", offers a practical and industrial perspective on how to design, develop and verify secure applications. The third part, "Protection at Operations", eventually introduces tools for continuous monitoring of security events and incidents. Overall, it covers several advanced topics related to security verification, such as optimizing security verification activities, automatically creating verifiable specifications from security requirements and vulnerabilities, and using these security specifications to verify security properties against design specifications and generate artifacts such as tests or monitors that can be used later in the DevOps process. The book aims at computer engineers in general and does not require specific knowledge. In particular, it is intended for software architects, developers, testers, security professionals, and tool providers, who want to define, build, test, and verify secure applications, Web services, and industrial systems.

This book explores and motivates the need for building homogeneous and heterogeneous multi-core systems for machine learning to enable flexibility and energy-efficiency. Coverage focuses on a key aspect of the challenges of (extreme-)edge-computing, i.e., design of energy-efficient and flexible hardware architectures, and hardware-software co-optimization strategies to enable early design space exploration of hardware architectures. The authors investigate possible design solutions for building single-core specialized hardware accelerators for machine learning and motivates the need for building homogeneous and heterogeneous multi-core systems to enable flexibility and energy-efficiency. The advantages of scaling to heterogeneous multi-core systems are shown through the implementation of multiple test chips and architectural optimizations.
