Frances Peabody is a tiny little dachshund, who just happens to live in a very large city. She lives there with a lady who wears rings on her toes and a man whom the lady calls "Honey." Frances didn''t always live in New York. She came from a pet store in a small New England town. Life was good and Frances was happy. She went to school every day with the lady and got to play with the school children. The little dachshund enjoys taking Honey and the lady on long walks, chasing pigeons and squirrels in the park, and of course hunting for the occasional pizza crust on the street. When Honey suddenly becomes very ill, life will change forever for Frances. Frances Peabody is a wonderful children''s book about a dachshund who must overcome adversity while learning the true meaning of family. April Jean grew up in New Bedford, Massachusetts, which is the neighboring town where Frances is from. She runs a dog walking/sitting business. "I spent my summers on Nantucket, which is also a setting in our story. Today Frances and I live in New York City, along with her Dad Kevin and her brother Mugsy. Frances inspired me to write this book and continues to be my inspiration throughout the series. Frances has to overcome a lot in this book, but I wanted the reader to feel inspired. It is important that the reader is able to feel sympathy for Frances, and I wanted to make sure there were still plenty of moments where they could laugh with her."Publisher''s website: http://sbpra.com/AprilJean/

This book is on grammar, but it goes beyond grammar. Because by knowing the elements of grammar and the rules in putting them together, one can at best follow a text, but cannot communicate. One needs to cultivate language sense, develop understanding of language use, and learn to handle the tools of logical analysis. Logic helps. This book is a paradigm of reasoning and analysis, and it makes clear that anything that is logically invalid cannot be deemed grammatically correct. For example: "I say I am dumb" and "I am there."Being aware that a clear, correct, complete, and consistent write-up is a basic requirement in a professional career, the author designed this book to serve as a master key to unlock the door to the house of grammar. The book teaches how to handle tools of analysis for clear thinking, which is important because clarity in expression goes hand in hand with clarity of thought. "Love means a lot when you don''t know much about it," a woman once told the author. He didn''t quite understand her then, but as time passed, he began to figure out what she meant. He has asked many people what the word love means, and everyone has had his or her own idea.If you meet ten different people and ask about love, they will all have different answers. None will say the same thing. To some, love sucks. To some, it''s just a game. And to others, it''s an ordinary word that has no meaning. In the author''s early teens, he understood love to be something pure. Later, he vowed to have nothing to do with it. That is, until he met Mary.Passion for Mary is about a man who has a different viewpoint about love. In fact, he doesn''t believe it exists. This is Charles Edward Scheideman''s fourth book, all of which grew from his years in the RCMP and the experiences of a lifetime. 300 Wasted Years is about the natives of Canada, and to some extent, North America. Charles grew up on the Canadian prairie, in close proximity to a large population of natives. This gave him knowledge of these people far beyond the average person. His experiences with natives were enhanced by his policing career, which involved him with more than twenty reserve locations. His career took his family to seven locations in British Columbia. On retirement, he moved to the Victoria area, where he and his wife Patricia live today. Charles learned a lot from the native tragedies he was involved in as a policeman over his twenty-seven years on the force. The most startling of the different attitudes and cultures among the majority of natives, was the lesser value they placed on life itself. He was also privy to their sense of humour. The author''s previous books are Policing the Fringe, Tragedy on Jackass Mountain, and When Grampa Was A Mountie. The success of these encouraged him to write this book, which departs from the format and subjects of the first three. The main theme in this book focuses on the tragic existence these people have lived over the past 300 years. Raised on an Alberta farm, Charles Edward Scheideman hopes his book sheds light on the plight of natives. "False information is being spread about these early people through our government and media and in our schools. Hopefully this book will cause some re-thinking of these embellishments, half-truths, and fabrications."Publisher''s website: http://sbprabooks.com/CharlesEdwardScheideman

Once upon a time, Delaney Walker's life was filled with warmth and love and family and friends, expectations and desires and happiness. Then a disastrous lifelessness set in. Living became painful to him, too painful to endure until the end of time.Delaney, retired after teaching for over thirty years at university level, had become filled with despair and was trying to understand why. On the morning of February 25, 2004, Delaney was afflicted with enough serious mental derangement to warrant a psychiatrist's enrolling him into what Delaney facetiously came to call "The Depressing Society of the Deeply Depressed." Unlike many societies, this one has no proud members. It is a very large community containing millions of associates and is quite exclusive, because nobody - absolutely nobody - gets in without proper credentials. H. G. Hastings-Duffield grew up in West Virginia, moved to Michigan during the early years of World War II, and now lives near Atlanta. He says, "Had I remained in West Virginia, I likely would be dead from black lung disease.
