Moral Problems in Higher Education brings together key essays that explore ethical issues in academia. The editor and contributors - all noted philosophers and educators - consider such topics as academic freedom and tenure, free speech on campus, sexual harassment, preferential student admissions, affirmative action in faculty appointments, and the ideal of a politically neutral university. Chapters address possible restrictions on research because of moral concerns, the structure of peer review, telling the truth to colleagues and students, and concerns raised by intercollegiate athletics.Cahn selects two key readings in each are to offer a readable introductory guide to these critical subjects for students studying academic ethics and higher education policy. In addition to the selections and a general introduction, Cahn provides study questions for use in the classroom.

    - Essays and Reviews
    by Dr Don Garlington
    £35.99

This collection of essays follows upon its predecessor, originally entitled In Defense of the New Perspective on Paul: Essays and Reviews (Wipf and Stock, 2005). This second edition differs from the first in that five new chapters have been added and one review article has been deleted. The change of the main title to Studies in the New Perspective on Paul is due to the conviction that the "New Perspective on Paul" actually represents a return to the original context in which Paul proclaimed the gospel of Christ. Therefore, it is not something to be "defended," but propounded in the most positive terms possible.

Joseph Thomas Fowler's 1897 edition of the Life and Letters of John Bacchus Dykes remains a critical document when assessing the musical life of the Church of England in the nineteenth century. It is filled with details concerning Dykes' involvement with the first edition of Hymns Ancient and Modern (1861) and the compositional process behind many of the hymns that are well-known today across several denominations. This is a riveting discourse for anyone with an interest in church life, England and its hymnody in the nineteenth century, and the nature of an individual commitment to parish ministry. Dykes emerges as a figure that may well be an inspiration to many embarking on a journey of ministry, whether clerical or musical, and it is hoped that this text will be a source of reference to both scholars and those who seek to further the work of the church.

    - Epistemological Foundations
    by Clodovis Osm Boff
    £35.99

In this book Clodovis Boff rigorously and passionately erects the methodological scaffolding that is necessary to construct a true theology of the political, a true theology of liberation. Much of the book is devoted to clarifying and articulating the boundaries of the relationships among theology, the political, the social sciences, hermeneutics, and praxis. As an element of that constructive work, Boff carefully points out the past and present theoretical shortcomings of political theology and the theology of liberation. Thus the book fills a methodological void that has hampered the full development of a theology of the political, and it blazes a path beyond what the author calls the "first phase" of liberation theology.

Jeanne DeFazio is a renaissance woman interested in everything. She and her multicultural team have gathered together many thoughtful voices recounting their own true-life experiences in this thoughtful, well-written, and very wise reflection. Comparing the destructive spread of the coronavirus, the devastating conflagration of the California fires, and the destructive racism that smolders beneath culture and too often these days breaks into flames, this hard-hitting yet uplifting book, as brief as it is, makes an important human statement everyone should take the time to read and consider carefully. --William David Spencer, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary The COVID-19 pandemic forced many to wrestle with their experiences in isolation. The Commission gives a lens into others' perspectives, and, along the way, reminds us that God is continually teaching and forming us for the glory that is to come. --Jeffrey Hadachek, PhD student at the University of California, Davis In The Commission, Jeanne DeFazio gives voice to a wide range of individuals who reflect on the impact the pandemic has had on them, how they found strength in God, and how they have reached out to others. If a continual barrage of news articles and images can lead to compassion fatigue, hearing people's individual stories is the antidote. Commission is a call for empathy and a call to action. May we all shine light in the darkness. --J. Creamer, faculty, University of the Nations
