  • - A Novel Introduction to Our World
    by Molloy
    £23.49

This novel was self-published through Xlibris in 2019 and since then has been extensively marketed through several avenues and platforms headlined by book exhibitions and major book fairs around the world such as The Book Expo America (New York), Beijing, and Guadalajara Book Fairs and London next year (due to 2020 cancellation because of the virus). It has also been featured in Press Releases and my website (http://www.ivan-molloy.org/) . Moreover it has been favourably reviewed by The Clarion Review and The Kirkus Review. However, I am approaching you now as I am seeking a more traditional publisher.Simply put, this novel is a somewhat comical satire of the politics and history of our world and is suitable for all ages. The main character Hunkle Trotter (a pig), lives in Mudwallow in a far off pig world. War soon rages between the pigs of Mudwallow and Hamcorner, as the elite among the Wallowites, known as snouters, seek to expand their power and fortunes through military means. As the snouters' mercenary soldiers, the boars, and the Holy Pomponer, the head of the Wallowites' faith, hoard food and wealth during this time, it is the weary, working-class trotters who go without. While the fight bogs down due to self-serving double-crosses and incompetent leaders, Hunkle finds himself in the role of an unlikely revolutionary.Meanwhile Hunkle's Cousin Crumpet has produced a series of writings on 'pigolitics' and 'pigolosophy' that demand equality and a rejection of snouter rule. Along with the vengeful rebel Snooper and Hunkle's son, Whiskers, Crumpet establishes the snotters, a group that rejects the strict class structure and the worship of the Pomponer's "Great One," a deity that supposedly blesses pigkind from the Black Mountain volcano. Unrest grows, and the snotters are able to gain advantages over the ruling upper classes through utilizing the prized badapple, a tree with explosive properties and technological possibilities, as well by taking advantage of the lies of the religious caste, by proving that the Great One is no god.Somewhat a cross between the Game of Thrones and Animal Farm, Dealing With Pigs, is filled with scheming bad pigs and harrowing battles. Ultimately the revolution is successful only to fall prey itself to dictatorship, new revolts and quests to find a better way. In what is Book One, there are parallels with our human contemporary global politics and history except for major twists and turns leading to Book Two (currently being written).

Poly barked, "Look up! Look up quickly!"We all looked up and saw three Rainbow Dreaming Spirits floating above us. They floated down to us and one of them said, "My name is Winbee, and these are Seewai and Djabu. Would anyone like to come and meet the whales?"Poly said "Not me, I don't," and Bunjee said, "I don't want to fall into the ocean."I was watching the Rainbow Dreaming Spirits when one of them said, "We are magic spirits, and we can put you into a magic bubble. You will be safe in there."I asked, "Are you sure?"They said, "Yes, we are sure.""OK," I replied. "I will go and say hello to them."

  • - Stories of Nursing Since the 1970S in Australia
    by Mary Keily
    £15.49

"Slow walk to the phone" is an expression used by older nurses as a sarcastic reaction to certain patients who are for full active resuscitation.Such gallows humor has not gone unnoticed in these short stories, spanning three decades. The book also features the joy of connection and the marvel at resilience. It starts at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane in 1979 and weaves its way until 2019 through other hospitals and homes in Victoria, South Australia, and New South Wales. There are over thirty essays, remembering situations and characters in their homes and their conversations and the nurses who helped make it easier.Grieving for strangers and mothers, not coping at work and after work, and dealing with the tragic farce of restructure are just some of the issues nurses face every day. Some pieces are derived from the freefall writing technique, a concept refined by Canadian writer/teacher Barbara Turner-Vesselago in her book Writing Without a Parachute: The Art of Freefall. This is Mary's first book.

Elijah's mummy has a sick brain. She suffers from mental illness, which makes her feel very sad and scared sometimes even when she doesn't need to be. Mummy cries some days; other days, she says her brain is very loud. There are times when Elijah's mummy sleeps too much, which annoys him since he wants her to come out and play.Elijah knows, though, that Mummy's brain is sick, so he tries to understand the medication and hospital visits-although he gets scared that she'll have to stay in the hospital forever. Mummy encourages Elijah to talk about his feelings because feelings, whether good or bad, are important, healthy to express, and not as scary as they seem.Parenting can be a challenge in everyday life, but what if a parent has mental illness? How do we talk to our children about it and what it means for them in their lives? Mummy's Brain Is Sick provides a safe way to start the discussion with your child in an age-appropriate way, making it less daunting while engaging both parents and kids alike.

We all live life counting the years, noting the milestones. But is it the years in our life or the life in our years that matter? We all go to school to learn, to grow up. Is it about how smart we are or how we are smart? Society pulls the wool over our eyes because we allow it. Sometimes we do not ever realise. But do we want our life lived for us, fixed and determined by things outside ourselves? We may believe that we are really that helpless. Or not. And then something can happen to us that causes us to wake up, step out of the fog, seemingly to see clearly for the first time. What am I doing? Where am I? Who am I really? And what has this life been about that I thought I was living and now seems like something foreign to me?I perceive the world as if through new eyes, hear things previously silent, feel and sense anew. You are not alone on this journey, this waking up to yourself and all about you. Do not be afraid. This is your glorious adventure. And these poems are part of my adventure that I will share with you.
