Being in a foreign country, immersed in the great atmosphere of western culture, what is still in my heart is the quintessence of China, and the DNA of Chinese culture still flows in my blood. The United States is a multi-ethnic country, and the cultural essence of various ethnic groups blooms here like the flowers of spring. Chinese calligraphy, the gem of Chinese culture with a history of 3,000 years and the genius of the world that has shocked the history of art, has been splendid in this melting pot!The sages said: There are at least two aspects in life, one is life and the other is spirit. Once one settles in a foreign place, there will be spiritual pursuits; cultural factors will become active, childhood dreams will come into life, and flowers will bloom in the cradle of multiculturalism...In the educational world dominated by western culture, eastern culture and Chinese culture are not featured prominently, especially in art departments in universities.I am honored to be a practitioner and inheritor of Chinese calligraphy, and I am a frequent guest speaker in various schools and museums in New England, such as Harvard and Wellesley universities, giving lectures, demonstrations and exhibitions, etc. These invitations compensate for the neglect of Chinese calligraphy in the main curriculum and allow students to witness the creative process of Chinese calligraphy as an art form. In Asian art departments of western universities, there are capable people who study Chinese calligraphy theories from the perspective of westerners, but only a few who are capable of doing calligraphy. To answer this need I felt compelled to take up a teaching role, shuttling between colleges, high schools, and elementary schools.
This book mostly focuses on my days growing up and running track over the years, the competition, my track squads, and some of the challenges I faced from 1969 to the early '80s. Growing up in Orange County, the many genres of music inspired me to run as fast as I could. In life, I faced some drama, such as being kidnapped and getting juvenile diabetes a.k.a. type 1. The way the kids grew up and the places we went to . . . The temptations and crazy fun and friends I encountered . . . How our track squad was ranked last in the sprint medley race and won . . . I would say my goal is to spark memories of the time, also to share some things a lot of us may have in common at one time or another.
Flash tries playing every instrument he can. He finds all of them to be wonderful. He even has a chance to conduct the orchestra. However, He knows that the Piano is his true love
Thank you for picking up my poetry book, "My wife knows Revenge is only a baseball moon" The title showcases three poems in the book, the first, middle and last poem. "My wife knows what is red and what is right" is a poem about the genocidal methods taken up against Native peoples. My wife is of Maidu heritage. "Revenge" is a tongue and cheek look at Medusa, with a chorus of lyrics of a hard rock song. The final poem is "It's only a baseball moon" about a relationship seen through baseball terminology by an avid, hockey fan. If you like this poetry book, check out my other two poetry books, "Stolen Poems Carried by Canoe to Blind Man's Bluff" and "Someone is making Kartoffelkloesse for Chicken Scratch Christmas".

"Mimea lived where the desert winds blow across the grasslands, and pink flowering kloudoring rise from the red earth of the Kalahari.Like most pink-nosed dwarf mongooses, she and her littermates were born deep underground in a burrowed-out termite hill.""However, unlike her brothers, her mind did not perform like a typical pup...hers was filled with an endless parade of daydreams ---- maladaptive daydreams.""Mimea's family tried to understand her lack of focus, outbursts, and needless fears. However, they could not because they were unable to walk the endless halls of her imagination."

Almost everyone ostracized her and ruined her reputation in the little town. Her mother's lifestyle precipitated this attitude toward MaryLou.Fortunately for MaryLou, her grandfather was an intelligent farmer and rancher who took MaryLou under his wing. He taught her all the ins and outs of farming and ranching, preparing her to become successful herself before he was kicked in the head by an irate Angus bull. This all occurred just before MaryLou's 15th birthday. Fortunately for MaryLou, her grandfather could impart his Christian faith to MaryLou before his accident. Much of that was also imparted to her grandmother, Lou Hardin Harris Lou was a direct descendent of the infamous outlaw, John Wesley Hardin and still harbored a few of John Wesley's traits, mainly his explosive temper. Marylou proved that all is well that ends well.
