Amnesia strikes Laura Collier when she disembarks from a train whose stop is the mysterious Maine village of Evergreen Bay. She finds a slip of paper in her hand with a single address. One taxicab ride later, she is ceremonially dumped in front of Highwood Manor, which she discovers is haunted. She has arrived to get rid of all the ghosts.
