Jacob Gottschalk, traversing the frigid Canadian wilderness to rescue the corpses of his possessed stepdaughters, arrives at the esoteric Christian settlement of New Oneida and ponders the offer of its stern and beautiful leader, Dr. Irinushka Zhukova.
