- Adult Years

About A Saga of an Appalachian Family

A third part of A Saga of an Appalachian Family, the Adult Years, is based on a true story. Names have been changed to protect people's identity. The story continues with the life of a strict minister's timid daughter, as she enters into adulthood, and the unknown world. She has low self-esteem. RJ is the youngest of 9 children, and was sheltered for most of her life. She does travel one summer to sing, with her evangelist sister, also a teen, to regional churches. After high school, RJ goes North to live with an older strict sister, and finds that it is a different world. She deals with two marriages, and one breakup; although all of her life, she has been taught that you should never divorce, except for biblically grounds. RJ has always showed a rebellious nature, and makes many mistakes, because of it. The author hopes to encourage readers to pick themselves up, no matter what mistakes they make, repent, and try to do better the next time.
