Very good read. Broke down the process of addiction as well as the steps needed to overcome said addiction. Defiantly recommended for someone who wishes to understand why we become addicted as well as how to recover from a life of addiction.
I'm reading books like this to support my partner & gain a better understanding of sobriety. People seem to have a very one sided view to alcoholics and the word itself holds a huge stigma. when the reality is there are many people who are functioning alcoholics but choose to ignore it because they feel they have control. It's such a damaging thing yet so regularly available. Beer, wine & now gin is rammed in our faces & in some places is more frequently available than water. It's a sad place to be when your reasoning for wanting to stay sober is more questionable than your wanting to get mortal at that work party or social event. When did choosing alcohol become more socially acceptable then being sober???
So let me just say I have been sober 9 years She described my life...I was a late bloomer didn't start my alcoholic drinking until I was 44 I found out I was a Binge drinker could go days weeks months without a drink BUT when I did put 1 drink in me it would be at least a 3-day blackout!!!! I honestly think you are going to help ALOT of women with this book I wish I had been able to read something like this when I started my journey. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read it!!!!!
