It explains the effects of logging, mining and conservation efforts on the local indigenous populations that have lived there forever. The main characters are Maggie and her adopted daughter Olon who attempt to save the forests and their inhabitants from these modern forces that lack long range sightedness of the irreversible damage they are doing.
