American Phoenix

Very little has been published about the victims and heroes at the Pentagon on 9/11. Even now over 20 years later, the published works commemorating 9/11 are focused FDNY and the World Trade Center making American Phoenix unique.
Of the estimated 22,000 individuals working at the Pentagon that day, 189 died in the attack (including the 59 passengers and the 5 hijackers on AA flight 77); this is a remarkable figure and speaks to the actions of the citizens and soldiers who sacrificed their own safety to save others.
