She converted to The Seventh Day Adventist Church and became a follower of Ellen G. White. The correspondence between the American Writer and Ann inspired her to become a missionary of God's message of redemption. The book includes the story of the Parsley Massacre; that took effect under the regime of the Dominican Dictator Rafael Trujillo.
