Artie's Party

About Artie's Party

This is not the "Great American Novel", but a heartfelt tribute memoir of a summer spent at Cape Cod with my brother Art, who was a beloved bartender and nightclub manager. It tells of the joy of who he was and how he touched so many people with his generosity, warmth, and humor despite his childhood of poverty, abuse, and now a terminal diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Some people when faced with death complain, ask why, or ask how could this happen to me. But some people look at death as an opportunity to live, to love, and remember all that is well and good. This was Art Westfall. To Art..."Life was a Party" Knowing that Art did not have health insurance, you'll find out how a small group of Art's close friends, along with volunteers from the Cape Cod hospitality community, joined together to throw a benefit fundraiser for him, the first "Artie's Party." It was Art's wish that they continue this effort to assist others. The committee kept their promise by establishing The Art Westfall Foundation. All proceeds from this book will go to the Art Westfall Foundation. A non-profit organization which provides emergency financial assistance to those in need in the hospitality industry of the Cape and the nearby islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.
