The lesson we learn from this story is to be ready for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ and how to live until he comes. In this story, we are taught that every person is responsible for his or her own spiritual condition.
The fact is that the five virgins in this story were never prepared. We will either be prepared for Christ's return or we will fail to take the Gospel message seriously.
