Blessed are the Pure in Heart

Happy or blessed are the pure in heart! As we look together with Daniel Bourguet at the texts concerning the 10 lepers and at Psalm 51 and then at the theme of tears, we pursue pathways of inner cleansing as operated by God himself . . . Going beyond forgiveness, each of us needs to recover inner purity of both the conscious and unconscious, an opening up to new relationship with others, with self and with God.
By means of his broad understanding of the Church Fathers, the author also helps us discover the importance of tears, bringing to our attention certain figures in the Bible who wept: Jeremiah, Jesus . . . and even God! There are tears that cleanse and heal wounds to the soul.
