Blood Royal

Blood Royal is a long-lost play set amid the maelstrom of court politics and religious strife in Restoration England. Elizabeth Jenkins, in close collaboration with the great classical actor Baliol Holloway, crafted a drama revolving around the moment when King Charles II's favourite illegitimate son, whom he had created Duke of Monmouth, was seduced by Lord Shaftesbury into betraying his father. It set in train a plot to assassinate the King.
