Brigid and the Magical Signs

About Brigid and the Magical Signs

Coming down with a high fever when she is just four, Brigid wakes up in the hospital in a strange, silent world, the breaking fever taking her hearing with it. At first, she thinks it is a game, her parents not even realizing. She finds simple explanations like a broken television with no sound, a new silent vacuum cleaner and her parents playing a game, moving their lips without talking. When a mischievous fairy lures her out into the street, a car barely missing her, an unnoticed honking car and barking dog throws her parents into a reality of a daughter that cannot hear. Running from specialist to specialist, flying across the ocean, a stark reality sets in. However, while her parents are nearly in a panic, their daughter just goes on playing, dancing as she watches people of television dancing, playing with her toys and finding a world without distraction. Finding herself in a world of magical creatures as they move into farm country, a horse brings her many more adventures, as her parents and friends learn to communicate with her through hand gestures and expressions. Suddenly, lured to an old, wooden dock, her world changes forever once again.
