BUILDING COMPETENCE IN THE INFORMAL SECTOR

About BUILDING COMPETENCE IN THE INFORMAL SECTOR

In Côte d'Ivoire, several professional training spaces take care of professional training by learning hairdressing, sewing and mechanics. In these training spaces, the skill acquisition process is defined. It starts from a training that lasts between two (2) to three (3) years and the end of the training is sanctioned by a study certificate which attests to the competence of the learners. hairdressing, sewing and mechanics. We are witnessing social practices in which actors are trained on the job in the trade of mechanics, no training time is defined for their apprenticeship and no formal act attests to the end of training and the competence of learners in end of training. The training and competence of the learners in these social spaces built as a 'garage' are conditioned by the conformity of the learners to the social frameworks of the activity as defined and hoped for by the head of the garage. This study also analyzes the social determinants of competence among mechanics in Abobo Clouetcha.
