California Missions Requiem

California Missions Requiem examines how the Spanish mission system in California attempted to control and subjugate the native people of California in the late 1700s and early 1800s. The book is divided into three sections: The first explores the nine missions established by padre Junipero Serra. The second traces the continued expansion of California's missions under the leadership of Francisco Lasuen. And the third touches upon the founding of the final three missions.
