Cape Fear's Confederate Gold

The Confederate States of America was gifted with an ideal climate for growing cotton while its postbellum political climate became fertile ground for the cultivation of a different crop, conspiracy theories. Many have traversed the Madhatter's maze where tale weaving destroys the truth, and the repetition of baseless claims displaces rational thought. If prejudice can kill, and suspicion can destroy, then a conspiracy theory based upon greed is the accelerant for insanity.
