About Castor River Rescue
Herein lies a further adventure, set in the old west, featuring The Man From Castor River Bottom. A man blessed with fast hands, a keen eye and remarkable accuracy with his custom made .45 Colt known as "The Gurka". He is also cursed with wartime memories he describes as "The Beast" within him.
A chance meeting with a old friend from his wandering years sets Hoyt Matthews off on a rescue mission. The Carter ranch in Precise, Colorado is under attack. The only defense is one man and his 17-year-old son.
Hugh "Mongoose" Johnson is a ruthless, land grabbing, thug who has already forced two land-owning former slaves to sell out to him. 'Goose' has a thirst for more land, a six pack of gunmen and his sights set on the YC Ranch.
Upon hearing of the threat to his friends ranch, Hoyt feels the dark wartime beast, long buried within him, arise once again. Submitting to his sense of responsibility, he leaves his comfortable family farm nestled on a hillside above the Castor River in Southeast Missouri. His destination: Southwest Colorado. His mission: Rescue his friend's source of livelihood. Along the way, he enlists the assistance of two war-time friends and garners the aid of a United States Marshal to reveal a serious discrepancy in the ownership of his friends ranch.
The YC ranch requires a rescue. A rescue led, amid a cloud of burning gunpowder, by Hoyt Matthews,
The Man from Castor River Bottom.
