Catarrh

Overproduction of mucus or inflammation of the respiratory or mucous membranes, most commonly the nose and throat, is commonly referred to as catarrh. Typical signs include a sore throat, a tickle at the back of the nose, and a cough. Infections (like the common cold), allergies, and irritants are only some of the potential reasons of catarrh. The formation of thick, dark mucus is a typical sign of many respiratory disorders. Rest, fluids, and over-the-counter or prescribed drugs to alleviate symptoms are common approaches to treating catarrh, although treating the underlying cause is preferable.
