About Devotions of a Layman
Lee Carson has been married to his wife, Velma, for sixty-four years with a son, Scott, daughter-in-law, Dee, daughter, Perian, two granddaughters, Haley Metzner and Megan Carson, and a grandson-in-law, Paul Metzner. He is a retired vocational teacher, having taught for forty-five years, have been active in every church we have attended, and have taught Sunday school classes over the years in every age group. I now teach the Senior adult class at my church. For twenty years I used a week of my vacation each summer to serve as a camp counselor at church camp and taught in vacation bible school most years. For the past eighteen years, Lee has worked as a volunteer at Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas helping families and friends of patients in the surgery waiting room. During the past few years, he has had a strong desire to write a book featuring what it was like to live in Judah and Galilee during the life of Jesus. It was published under the title of "Alph" in 2014 after two years of research to keep the fictional storyline as true to life as possible. He has also written a contemporary Christian novel titled "Pine Cone County," about a fictitious character named John Denza, a loveable Christian man, who lives in the fictitious East Texas county of Pine Cone.
