We are still determining our identities and our place along the social interaction continuum. Although mistakes are inevitable, they should be made in private, away from public spaces like the lunchroom or special events. High school kids are allowed to be anxious wrecks, worried that if they fall, their own shadow would make fun of them. But it ought to have ended there.
