Rottweilers make excellent protectors and if properly trained, wonderful companions. An innovative program to train them for a variety of tasks is to assign them to prisons and train the prisoners to train them The dogs sleep in the cells with their handlers, are fed and cared for by the prisoners, and when they "graduate," the dogs are placed with families or individuals who apply for them as service dogs.
