About High Power HF Filter Design

This book concentrates on the design, construction, and alignment of kilowatt-level filters intended for use in the High Frequency range. Typical applications are in amateur radio where two transmitters operate in tandem, a mode called SO2R - Single Operator Two Radio. The technical design details are applicable, however, to HF high power design in general. Many of the design methods are applicable to much higher frequencies as well, the difference being how the filter elements are realized at the particular frequency. The specifics of filter building blocks are addressed with attention given to those quantities important to high power operation. Most importantly, the text outlines multiple circuit methods, termed transforms, which make construction of these filters possible using much less expensive MLCCs - multi-layer ceramic chip capacitors. Two complete design examples are included, one for 40m and the other for 15m. This book comes in four different formats: B&W soft, hard, and Color soft, hard. Select "See All Formats". The color versions use higher quality paper that significantly improves the readability of all text and equations, as well as figures and pictures. Two-thirds of the book is for the advanced amateur interested in DIY high power design. The final third of the book is relegated to the more advanced topics which, in most cases, require higher level mathematics or an engineering background.
