Homer and the Epic

This is a shortened, rearranged version of The Songs of Homer, Professor Kirk's account of the background and development of the Homeric poems and of their quality as literature. While the essential attitudes and arguments of the earlier work have been retained, several sections have been reduced, the order has been changed and the number of chapters increased.
