I Know You Love Me

Life seemed perfect for Jean. She had a wonderful, twenty-four-year marriage to a man who was fun, romantic, and strong. Her world revolved around motorcycle rides, cruises, festivals, and enjoyable meals out together.

Then the unthinkable happened.

Jean's husband, Bill-an electrical company employee-was severely burned in an accident on the job. Bill's family clung to hope while medical experts treated him at a burn center. After a few weeks, however, Bill's life slipped away.

I Know You Love Me follows Jean as she struggles to cope with the hospitalization-and then the death-of her best friend, lover, and life partner. In the grim aftermath of Bill's death, Jean finds that everything that used to bring her joy and happiness now seems to be a somber reminder of her pain and loss.

Driving the streets they used to travel, passing restaurants they used to visit, attending events they used to enjoy...nearly everything brings memories Jean is no longer able to confront. She seeks solace in endless hours of listening to "their" music, flipping through photo albums, and reminiscing about their good times together. But remembering is so painful, and so she turns to alcohol to help dull her senses. That troublesome combination brings more grief, and Jean finds herself dealing with suicidal thoughts, hopelessness, and finally, a life-threatening accident.

I Know You Love Me is a touching account of one woman's journey through the Valley of the Shadow of Death. With the help of a team of mental health professionals and clergymen, she seeks to find answers to her challenges and hope for a better tomorrow.
