Ramon Villaverde is a Cuban-American
living in Miami who has met the love of
his life and wants nothing more than to
pursue his profession. However, the
sudden appearance of a Cuban boy who
was rescued from the high seas and the
concerted campaign by Communists in
the United States to return the boy to
the Cuban government shatters any
illusions he has of being an island unto
himself, aloof from cruelty, and draws
him into becoming deeply involved in
moral issues as he is forced to make
decisions which will affect his own life.
