About In Loving Memory of the Self
"In Loving Memory of the Self" is Sol Nte's first work of experimental fiction: Consisting of a jarring blend of plagiarised victoriana, william burroughs style cut-ups, self-help texts, snippets of autobiography and lyrics and poetry from a variety of occult pop music projects created by Sol Nte; including work under the names Baron Meliadus, Hexbag, Avantgardism, Cagehausen and of course his live and studio work under the stage name Pharaoh Sol with incarnations such as " Pharaoh Sol and his Astro Nubian Dieselpunk Swing Orchestra ", " Pharaoh Sol and the Intergalactic Psychic Nubians " and the " Pharaoh Sol Noisejazz Quartet ". The fundamentally disjointed nature of the text makes it a challenging read that becomes increasingly intriguing and rewarding culminating in no conclusion or resolution whatsoever. This novel should appeal to fans of James Joyce , William Burroughs , Richard Brautigan , Harmony Korine and the generally weirder end of literary fiction.
Sol Nte has been making art, music, and words for the "no-audience underground" since the late eighties. With the exception of being included in a handful of exhibitions, dalliances with Fluxus in the nineties, and an extremely modest streaming revenue for his Pharaoh Sol free jazz albums, he is a refreshingly obscure unknown artist.
