About It's Not What You Know
In this book we follow the second part of Stanley's life with his beautiful and feisty wife Doris beside him. Still both in their twenties, they are completely focused on making a better life for themselves.
Moving at last from the mining village where they were both born, they find themselves living in a cottage that is barely habitable, but using all her ingenuity, Doris turns it into home, while Stanley, ever resourceful, finds ways to earn the extra money they will need.
From Doris's quirky and sometimes irritating talent with a tin of paint, to Stanley's antics when he sets off across the fields in pursuit of a runaway boar pig, their sense of humour and determination to achieve their ambition shine through.
No matter what life throws at them, they stubbornly refuse to be beaten and continue to strive to acquire a farm of their own.
Although their relationship can sometimes be stormy, they are totally devoted to each other and they work together side by side to the point of exhaustion.
If ever a couple deserve to succeed, that couple is Stanley and Doris.
This book is a continuation of 'YON LAD OUT THERE,' but can be read with enjoyment as a stand alone book.
