About Learning from Life
Learning From Life is an anthology of poems that reflect on both the mundane and the more challenging aspects of everyday life. In his poems, the author takes a look at everything from Sunday mornings and the importance of time in bed; the stresses and strains of everyday life, and reflections of more dramatic events, including the Covid pandemic and the Manchester Arena bombing.
One of the poems, though - The Hope We Cling To - reflects on the trauma and uncertainty experienced when his son-in-law was suddenly diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in 2021. Thankfully, he received a stem cell transplant in 2022, arranged by the charity, Anthony Nolan. That is why ALL profits from the sale of this anthology are being donated to Anthony Nolan.
Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer. The charity uses its register to match potential stem cell donors to blood cancer and blood disorder patients in need of stem cell transplants. It also carries out pioneering research to increase stem cell transplant success and supports patients through their transplant journeys. Every day Anthony Nolan gives three people a second chance at life. About 2,400 people in the UK need a stem cell transplant from a stranger every year
Blood cancer is the fifth most common type of cancer in the UK and the third biggest cancer killer. It accounts for 9% of all new cases of cancer diagnosed in the UK
And It costs £40 to add each new donor to the register so Anthony Nolan always needs financialsupport.
