After years of mounting tensions, Caydean the mad king has lived up to his name. His troops have attacked the King's Tournament, forcing fighters and commoners to fill the ranks of his army. War is on the horizon. With no other option, Rezkin fled with a ragtag group of refugees. He needs a sanctuary. He'll make a dangerous deal with an ancient being, granting him the fabled fortress of Cael.
Long lost and steeped in myth, the citadel holds many secrets, but its terrifying denizens do not like intruders. To wrest control from Caydean and restore order to Ashai, Rezkin must conquer the legendary isle. To protect and honor his friends, he will defy armies, assassins, and even the kings of the Souelian.
