Reading Gareth Lyn Jones' memoir takes you back more than three quarters of a century and sets you down in a coal mining community in South Wales. His writing is honest and often lyrical, resulting in an un-canny feeling that Gareth is a character in Under Milk Wood and that Dylan Thomas must have met him sometime in a pub sharing stories about working class life in Wales.
Gareth's granddaughter, Sinead Robinson-John, writes that her Bamp is honourable, decent, and kind.
