About Mikey Finds her Faith
Mikey Finds Her Faith is the second book in a three-book series. Mikey--the main character--is a spunky and lively second grader who loves all things purple! (Mikey is short for Mikelle, which means "gift from God.") She lives with her little brother, Levi, their parents, and Grandma Frances. As Mikey deals with issues in life, such as confidence and having faith, Grandma Frances is her voice of reason. The character of Grandma Frances is modeled after the author's own maternal grandmother, who died in the mid 90s. Levi, Mikey's little brother, is modeled after the author's nine year old son, Jace. Both boys are on the autism spectrum and share lovable and comical personalities. Both the author and Mikey share a love of purple and have bright, toothy smiles. In this particular book, the family dog - - Kitty - - is sick. Mikey and Levi are terribly worried. Grandma Frances tells them about the power of prayer and their need to have faith in God's awesomeness. This book encourages children, as well as adults, to not despair, but rather to trust God. The books in the Mikey series are targeted towards pre-kindergarten to upper elementary children. And it is the author's hope and prayer that the series becomes a family favorite!
