- Reflections on the Implementation of the "One China" Principle (Traditional Chinese Edition)

About My Country, My People

My Country, My People: Reflections on the Implementation of the “One China” Principle is a collection of 32 essays. The author, Chen Wu Chu, was a public servant doing secretarial work for the President of the Executive Yuan, Taiwan, Republic of China. Chu frequently composed investigative reports and analytical essays on economic, financial and social affairs for Cabinet members as decision-making references. Currently residing overseas, Chu continues to offer valuable insight and advice in the form of essays that help enhancing both China's and Taiwan’s political reforms on creating a democratic, capable and efficient government in order to promote the wellbeing for all the people and achieve world peace as a whole. Now these essays are collected in My Country, My People: Reflections on the Implementation of the “One China” Principle, following the publication of its sister work On Security, Peace and Equal Distribution of Wealth in 2017. The book begins with a subtitle “An Investigation of the Sovereignty of Taiwan, Republic of China: Regarding Contemporary Disputes over the ‘1992 Consensus’" , i.e. the "One China" principle which advocates the peaceful reunification of both sides of the Taiwan Strait to be a "Great China". Next, a diverse range of essays tackle important issues such as the interpretation of the “One China” principle and how China could reform its political and economic systems in order to achieve the well-known “Chinese Dream”. The book concludes with a series of reminiscences on various individuals, organizations and political policies that played an important role in shaping the author’s life. For all readers within and beyond the Greater China, My Country, My People: Reflections on the Implementation of the “One China” Principle is a thought-provoking, informative book, highlighting the vital role of Taiwan as the gateway to the Asia Pacific. As the world continues to adapt to China’s rise as a superpower, it remains the author’s hope that this book can be of much value to all who work for the best interests of global Chinese communities.
