Narrative of the Exploring Expedition to the Rocky Mountains, in the Year 1842, and to Oregon and North California, in the Years 1843–44

Published together in 1846 for a British readership, these reports of two expeditions to the west of the Missouri River by the army officer John Charles Fremont (1813-90) shed light on exploration in nineteenth-century North America. The narrative provides much detail on the challenges faced by travellers at that time.
