Jamie possesses the magical ability to read human and animal emotions, despite living among the non-magical humans on the surface. Nikki, heir to one of Terraltum's most powerful Houses, wants nothing more than to compete in the conjuring arena and leave politics behind.
Their paths collide when Jamie's guardian goes missing and powerful political machinations result in Nikki's banishment to the surface. Jamie sets out on a quest to find his guardian, unaware that Nikki's family rivals are hunting him, and that only a reluctant Nikki can save him from what they have unleashed. Together they will team up with a found family of banished Skyfolk, who must unlock the full strength of their magic in order to prevent a catastrophic conflict between their two worlds.
