Barry Hollis, Princeton graduate, has just inherited his father's fortune. Barry meets and falls in love with Gladys Vance. He persuades his aunt to invite Gladys for a visit. Another note goes to Patsie Linder, old flame of Barry's, saying it's all over. Alas, the notes get mixed! Patsie arrives and threatens a breach of promise suit unless Barry marries her. But he can't marry her if he's already married. so he gets the butler
