Once Upon A New Orleanian

About Once Upon A New Orleanian

Jesus grew up a generational Israelite and understood their stories. For the open-minded He seamlessly framed His words in common cultural images that were saplings of spiritual secrets, morsels of meaning, dangled before the hungry heart that they might get it. New Orleanians get New Orleans. But do we get Jesus? The easy-read, fast-paced stories inside might help. Six brief stories are set in New Orleans contexts. Some were originally told as stories by Jesus. The others relive some of His encounters with people. There is a question at the end of each story. Not exclusive to New Orleanians, Jesus' life and stories have meaning for everyone in all cultures. Although life was colorful and fraught with opportunity the author had a difficult time figuring out who he was in his hometown. So he left home in 1974 in search of meaning. In a short time it found him. After life as a Navy sailor, an active student in campus dorms, work in pest control, inventory management, and college administration, to college minister at four campuses the author returned home in 2006. His life story has helped him appreciate the suction of story. He is married with three adult children, seven grandchildren, and lives and serves where his story began.
