Orphans of the Secret War

- A provocative tale of an Udontani bargirl and her illegitimate son in the aftermath of the Americans leaving the Kingdom of Thailand after the Vietnam War.

About Orphans of the Secret War

The conflict "Vietnam War" does not completely encompass the impact it had on the region it consumed. In the 1960s and throughout the 70s, the much more powerful North Vietnamese Army took full advantage of Laos by fueling the internal conflict within the landlocked country. During this time, and fearing that the communist propaganda would cross its border, The Kingdom of Thailand agreed to aid the US military in defense of freedom and democracy. The Americans swarmed in, completely changing the economic landscape of a third-world nation. It was magical, for a time. The social stratosphere of Thailand quickly adapted like only Thai culture can. Cities were erected around Thai Air Force Bases throughout the nation and created an unbreakable foundation for shadow businesses that would ultimately become a secret income for those who had the control, and would retain it. This is a story about how one nation's lust pacified another nation's greed in a time of war. And when they lost, they disappeared, and thousands of orphans were abandoned to their fate.
