THE name of the Brahmo Somaj, or Theistic Church of 1 India, has of late been recalled to public attention in Europe by several occurrences. The fiftieth anniversary of the death of its founder, Rájá Rám Mohun Roy, was recently commemorated in the city where that event took place, by an interesting lecture from Professor Max Müller: an eloquent Brahmo missionary has been making a preaching tour through England and the United States; and various able writers, English, French, and Dutch, have been publishing biographical or historical sketches of the Brahmo Somaj, either separately or in current periodicals.
