Pathomorphological Behaviour of Tumour

About Pathomorphological Behaviour of Tumour

Biological activity of a tumour is determined by a balance between proliferative and apoptotic activity of its neoplastic cells. A simultaneous assessment of proliferative and apoptotic activities may be of great help in assessing pathomorphological behavior of tumour. This book addresses two methods for identifying neoplastic cells in different phases of cell cycle, one by the use of AgNoR dots and non-AgNOR dots in nuclei in histological sections after AgNOR staining and another by identifying cells in quiescent or proliferative state as well as identification of necrotic / apoptotic cells in formalin fixed tissue sections after modified AO staining technique in NMU induced tumours in rats. It has got immense importance in prognostic, diagnostic and therapeutic decisions on tumour. These protocols have a potential to evolve as a test to help in selection of most appropriate chemotherapeutic agent against a particular tumour. The book contains good amount of experimental evidences which will enable the students, teachers and research worker as reference tool to obtain information quickly as and when necessary.
