Pharmacopoeia Contracta

This is a pharmacopoeia consisting of recipes and instructions for medicines to be used in the newly established hospital for the poor in Portugal. The book was written in Latin by Jacob Castro de Sarmento, a physician who was one of the founders of the hospital. It provides valuable insight into the state of medical practice during the 18th century and the efforts to provide healthcare to the less fortunate.
