PLATELET-RICH PLASMA

About PLATELET-RICH PLASMA

A descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study was carried out with the aim of evaluating the results of treatment with platelet-rich plasma in phlebostatic ulcers treated in the Angiology Department of the Clinical Surgical Hospital "Lucía Iñiguez Landín" of Holguín, as well as patients referred to the hospital's outpatient clinic from Holguín province and neighboring provinces during the period from September 2017 to August 2019. The sample consisted of 25 patients treated with platelet-rich plasma in the described pathology with prior informed consent. The evaluation determined that the patient prevailed mid-life, female sex, and comorbidity due to hypertension, smoking and obesity. The onset time of lesion reduction was between 30 to 60 days approximately, with a closure of 61 to 100%. The efficacy of the treatment was largely corroborated by the fact that the patients showed no complications or treatment-dependent adverse effects and no recurrences.
