In the isolated ski-resort town of Gold Flume, longtime Sheriff Jay Isaacs, prepares to confront three teens for a condo break-in. On his way to the county seat of Aureole, with the teens in custody in the dead of winter, an earthquake shakes the mountain and creates an avalanche which seals off the small town from the rest of civilization. No passage out of town, no electricity, no Wi-Fi. And with the spring melt, the town will soon be underwater. In Joanne Greenberg's Jubilee Year, the world is flipped upside down as the town must revert to the old days and old skills to survive a brutal winter with no electricity, no Wi-Fi, no cell phones, no modern conveniences. It's a clash of culture, values, age and youth, as a divided town must come together to survive. Joanne Greenberg was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was graduated from American University, Washington, D.C., with a major in anthropology and English literature. She also studied at the University of London and the University of Colorado. In 1955, she married Albert Greenberg, who encouraged her to write her first book, The King's Persons, an account of the York Massacre. This has been followed by 15 novels and four collections of short stories. Her most famous work is the classic I Never Promised You A Rose Garden which was adapted into a 1977 movie and a 2004 play of the same name. Her book, In This Sign, was made into a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie called Love Is Never Silent.

  • - American Tragedy and Global Destiny (External Vision ): How Do We See Donald Trump ? Politically.... a Hero or a Crook ?
    by Moulay Taieb Baiti
    £12.99

Donald Trump, the uncontrollable man who blasted American politics from the inside and petrified the elites—Is he an impostor with an oversized ego? Or a patriotic businessman who goes beyond the normally prescribed limits and wants to take on the model of globalization? Thousands of articles and dozens of books deal with him, but the man remains a puzzle! So, if we wish to understand the phenomenon, we must approach his case as we would approach a puzzle! The method proposed in this book, Trump the Puzzle, adopts a pedagogical trajectory that highlights, in a rigorous and clear way, the simple American realities. Then, grasping the complexity of the big sets, we try, as much as possible, to understand the integrated image of the “case”—the “naked truth.” It will not be the purpose of this book to diminish Trump, as is the wish of his enemies, to what he is not in reality—some political dwarf; nor to inflate him as is the wish of his admirers, into a real-life Incredible Hulk. We wish only to identify and recognize the truth. Those who seek to promote their own agendas—positive or negative—about the “Trump case” should look elsewhere! The method in Trump the Puzzle offers a dive into the psychology and construction of the Trump character and his vision of the world. It also clarifies what the Trump phenomenon is. The deep revolt that is shaking America affects the West in general and frightens the Third World as well. Trump The Puzzle teaches us about the challenges posed to America and the whole planet, and what we as concerned citizens of “this small planet” can do about it.Moulay Taieb Baiti, Master lecturer, consultant in International Geo-strategy and political anthropology.

  • - and the Decline of the Royal Navy
    by 'sharkey' Ward
    £27.99

This book relates the part played by Royal Navy Top Guns in defence of UK's global National Interests since World War II. It is an intimate account of the author's "technicolour" journey to Top Gun status, the fighter pilot élite of Britain's armed forces, and provides insight into the real world behind the blockbuster movie. It is about the attitude and making of a war-fighter. Instructively, it then goes on to provide the unfortunate history of the recent decline of the UK's Naval Service revealing misleading propaganda and untruths that have been used to fraudulently influence Ministers and the UK Government. The two stories are interlinked through personal experience of Phantom F-4K operations from the deck of HMS Ark Royal, Nuclear Intelligence duties within NATO, Running Sea Harrier development and production in the Ministry of Defence, Successful air combat as "Mr Sea Harrier" during the Falklands War, Internecine battles within the Ministry of Defence, Whitehall. Major-General Julian Thompson CB OBE, Royal Marines: "Painstaking preparation of his Squadron, superlative personal flying skills, and a determination to engage the enemy more closely, made Sharkey Ward a fighter leader in the mould of Bader, Johnson, Ball, and others in the past". Admiral Sir Sandy Woodward, Carrier Battle Group Commander: "If Sharkey Ward had not disobeyed orders, we could not have won the Falklands War". A Royal Navy Top Gun and Air Warfare Instructor, Sharkey was Senior Pilot of 892 Phantom F4-K Squadron in the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal during the Cold War. He personally introduced the Sea Harrier Fighter Aircraft to Naval Service, commanding the Intensive Flying Trials Unit 700A Squadron, 899 Headquarters Squadron and then 801 Front Line Squadron in the Falklands where he was Senior Sea Harrier advisor to the Command on all aspects of the fast jet air war. The terror and hatred I felt for my mother serves as the foundation for my gritty memoir, Far Too Simple a Wish. I’m not proud to admit that the person that gave me life was the very person I feared and despised growing up.  Living with a mentally ill mother and an alcoholic father was certainly not a secure or loving environment to be raised in. I chronicle the physical abuse, dysfunction, and the emotional neglect that over shadowed my formative years and true self. That in turn, caused mental anguish throughout my adult life.  It was monumental that I face this fear or I could just as easily go insane like Mom. I needed to conquer the unnatural sense of animosity that I harbored for Mom.  But most importantly, I had to put an end to the violence from their generation by not allowing abuse to overlap into mine. By embracing my parent’s stormy relationship it allowed me to unmask their pitfalls and secrets.  This led to truth, which directed me to understanding, and ultimately to forgiveness.  For this I am thankful. JoAnn Skinner is a native of Augusta Georgia.  She proudly identifies as being a strong and passionate Southern woman. JoAnn has been a member of the CSRA Writing Group for over ten years. This is JoAnn’s first book.  She is looking forward to the future and hopes to write another book based on continued life experiences. The painting was design by the artist Matthew Lee Skinner.

  • by T P Benthall
    £29.99

Benthall Hall is a National Trust property in Shropshire. It contains about 70 portraits that depict eight generations of a single family, together with their many relatives. The two portraits on the front cover are of William Bentall and Dr. William Marshall. They met in Devon and became friends in around 1760, one a young merchant and the other a medical student. They remained friends for life, and became the patriarchs of that large extended family. Their children and grandchildren intermarried, and in the 19th century this clan exemplified the importance of "incest and influence" in maintaining a successful merchant class (as engagingly described by the anthropologist Adam Kuper in his book of that title). Its most successful members sometimes brushed with greatness, becoming entrepreneurs or civil servants in the British government and its colonies. Several others lived colourful but less respectable lives. The author draws on public and private documents to bring this family to life and show how, for better or worse, they lived through the political and social developments of the 19th and 20th centuries. Any net profits from sales of the book will be donated to the National Trust. The author, probably the youngest great-great-great-grandson of William Benthall and Dr. William Marshall, was born in Calcutta (now Kolkata) in West Bengal and educated in England. After graduating from Cambridge University with a degree in Mathematics, he spent over fifty years working with computers, as an operations research analyst, management consultant and executive at a computer software company, before being coaxed into becoming a genealogist and amateur social historian.

Because of the love and support shared amongst family members and the help of a spiritual intuitive healer, Annette Bruchu, and a religious holistic healer, Sister Anita Germain, health and hope are restored as well as the miracle of life to Michael and his family. The Germain family remained steadfast through the transplant, but it was the years to follow that rocked their whole lives. Through tears and triumphs, small steps became big victories as this family overcame many hardships along their journey. Many lessons are learned as their beliefs, faith, and resilience are tested. Because He Believed takes readers along an emotional journey of body, mind, and spirit.
