Das Prophetengesetz in Dtn 18,9-22 grenzt einen Propheten Israels deutlich von divinatorischen und magischen Praktiken ab, die den umliegenden Völkern zugeordnet werden. Ziel der Studie ist es, die einzelnen Praktiken möglichst genau zu erfassen und ihr Verhältnis zur Prophetie in der weiteren Hebräischen Bibel zu bestimmen. Dabei wird deutlich, dass magische und mantische Praktiken durchaus zur prophetischen Praxis in Israel gehörten und in ein weiter gefasstes Verständnis von Prophetie eingeordnet werden müssen.
